The Heart of an Artist

Psalm 139:23-24 ~
Search me, O God, and know my heart, try me, and know my thoughts:And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

My day began, like any other day, and then something caused me to see something differently. For the first time, I noticed the heavens, and  it was blue (not like a common blue) it was a unique, and awe inspiring azure shade and there were even streaks of pink in the clear sky. I was five years old, and fresh in this life.

I had a number of questions.

Who made these heavens so beautiful?
Head surveying the sky-blue view; I kept staring.
As I continued to look and meditate deeper, I noticed the birth of translucent yellow and the beauty of light; my heart-filled with awe!
I took a deep breath, and as I admired these brilliant blends of colors (a pallet made by God), the purple, shades of green, and their union, took my breath away. This discovery, this moment, hooked me on the majesty of colors!
As I grew older these colors grew in meaning.
The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; It rises at one end of the heavens and makes its circuit to the other; nothing is deprived of its warmth.
The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul. The statutes of the Lord are radiant, giving light to the eyes.

Psalm 19:1,2 & 6-8

I recognized the Master painter, the Creator, the Designer of Designers. He is the one who made the immensely passionate oceans, the magnificent grandeur of mountains, and all the creatures that exist. God’s unfathomable creativity made unique creations and even intriguing humorous ones. But, most special and set apart, are humans. We are made in His image (imago dei).

I still wonder about the first garden, all the pristine and undiluted colors; pure.

Still, the thought of heaven and its’ perfection makes me wonder, and time has furthered my quest to become an artist, at 72.
